Subject: Issuing a Statue or Regulation on the Palestinian Human Rights Defenders Declaration
MUSAWA- the Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession extends its warmest greetings to your Excellency, noting that we have repeatedly outreached your Excellency on the center’s request to adopt its proposal regarding the Palestinian Human Rights Defenders Declaration of 2016 and to issue it as a statue or regulation that provides the legal basis that guarantees the rights of Palestinian Human Rights Defenders while fulfilling their mission, and to hold whoever hampers the functioning of that mission or affects their basic constitutional rights as a result of their mission or because of it accountable, whether those violations emanates from an individual or official/civil party, especially that all the covenants and conventions singed by the State of Palestine, including the international bill of rights that involves the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, in addition to Palestinian Declaration of Independence, and the introduction, convections, and provisions of the Basic law, guarantee the rights of Palestinian Human Rights Defenders and provides them with the enabling legal environment that helps them fulfill their mission, achieve its goals, and prohibits, under the risk of accountability, any violation against their rights or freedom.
Looking forward to your prompt response to our request by placing the call to adopting and issuing of the statue or regulation governing the rights of the Palestinian Human Rights Defenders on the agenda of the government in order to take the needed legal action that ensures the issuing of the regulation duly.
