Subject: MUSAWA Renews its Demand to Publish the Recommendations of the Presidential Committee for the Development of the Justice Sector

MUSAWA- the Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession extends its warmest greetings to you, noting that the center has previously made the official request that you announce and publish the recommendations of the Presidential Committee for the Development of the Justice Sector and the Revision of the Judicial Legislations, in keeping with the rules of transparency and integrity, and in safeguarding the right of the community to examine the outcomes of its work, considering the Justice System a basic right of citizen. MUSAWA’s memo was sent on 7 October 2018, and since then, no response was received, none of the recommendations was published, and no indication was given regarding the procedures taken by the Presidents in their regard, thus, we send you this reminder, asking your esteemed Department, in accordance with its competence, to declare these recommendations, identifying the procedures taken in their regard, presenting them to citizens and civil partners, in order to bring the social dialogue to maturity on the future of the Justice System, and the most effective mechanisms for reforming it, especially in light of the obvious divergence in views on the ideas and informal proposals, which was attributed to one of the aforementioned committee members saying that they were included in the recommendations. It is worth to mention that what was published on the Independent Commission for Human Rights’ website concerning the committee’s report is not considered an official declaration of the recommendations by your esteemed department or by the head of the committee, who did not publish them either, although the committee’s work has expired since a long period.

Hoping that you respond to our call, and enable the Palestinian civilians from viewing the recommendations and procedures taken in their regard duly.
