MUSAWA Condemns the Assassination of Palestinian Reporter Shireen Abu Akleh

MUSAWA- The Palestinian Center for the independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession mourns with deep sadness and anger the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was assassinated in cold blood by the Israeli occupation army this morning during its raid in Jenin refugee camp, in violation of international laws and norms, and a week after celebrating the World Press Freedom Day!

MUSAWA condemns in the strongest terms the deliberate targeting of journalists by the Israeli occupation forces while doing their job today. The center calls for the formation of a transparent international investigation committee for this deliberate assassination that amounts to a war crime, which requires a prompt referral to the International Criminal Court. Furthermore, the Center calls for holding the perpetrators of this crime and their official in the government of the occupation accountable, as well as providing international protection for the Palestinian people against the crimes and practices of the occupation and taking all measures to isolate the occupation from other international forums, as it is a rogue regime that does not respect human rights and its defenders.

May the martyr journalist Shireen Abu Akleh and all the martyrs of Palestine rest in peace. Our sincere condolences to her family and the Palestinian people on this loss, and our wishes of a speedy recovery to the journalist Ali Al-Sammudi, who was injured during the targeting.
