Assaulting a Judge is an Example of  the Repressive Security-based Approach

MUSAWA – The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession is concerned about the attack carried out by members of the National Security Forces against Judge Nabil Al-Natsheh in Hebron yesterday, in which it sees another serious incident that embodies the security-based approach grounded on violating the principle of the rule of law and the separation of powers.

In spite of the decision of the National Security Forces to suspend those involved and refer them for investigation, MUSAWA believes that the guaranteed path to the non-recurrence of the phenomenon of attacks against citizens, regardless of their capacities, is the immediate abolition of the policy of reliance on the repressive security-based approach in dealing with issues and concerns of the state and the citizen.
