The persistent flaw is a sin that calls for accountability
The discrimination hindering enrollment of female students to university shall not be condoned
Once again, the administrations of some universities continue to violate of constitutional rights and principles by issuing decisions relating to admission to students' enrollment in their colleges with deliberate discrimination and violation of the provisions of Article (9) of the Basic Law, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender whereas these universities adopted prerequisite for female students to have a higher score than the male students if they wish to enroll in a university college that requires higher rates from females than those required from male students.
Recalling MUSAWA’s position paper in such days last year, through which we requested the obligation of university departments and the Ministry of Education, to cancel such actions, instructions and non-constitutional conditions, which fall under the umbrella of infringement of human rights which holds the perpetrators accountable according to the provisions of Articles 10 and 32, of the Basic Law, considering that the violation of human rights took place on the basis of sexual discrimination that’s considered a crime that is not falling due to the limitation of statue and that entails reparation.
Noting our position paper and our demands thereof, we express our shock, imploration and denounce for the return of some members of some universities to this racist discriminatory sin again!!!!!!
We demand and call out loud all concerned and those concerned with human rights and academic empowerment of all students at the base of equality and equal opportunities without discrimination, and all of civil society and academics to demand and oblige university administration to retract those procedures immediately and forever.
We also demand students' unions and employees’ Syndicates within, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and anyone who has a relationship, authority or power to oblige university administrations to provide the opportunity and space to receive university education for all students without discrimination or favoritism. We look forward to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education thoroughly reviewing our position paper with attention and informing us of the measures to ensure cancelation of these discriminatory actions and the accountability of universities that issued them.
