MUSAWA’s Statement: Security Services Prevent Peaceful Gathering of Public Employees Union in Front of the Council of Ministers

In violation of the Basic Law, the Public Meetings Law, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Palestinian security forces disperse a peaceful gathering in front of the cabinet. This assembly was called by the founding body of the state employees union, which followed the applicable laws and notified the appropriate official bodies of the meeting's time, location, purpose, and peaceful nature.

We demand an investigation to ensure that all those responsible for dispersing this assembly and preventing journalists from covering it, as they deemed it illegal, are held accountable for violating a constitutional right, since this violation falls under the category of crimes requiring accountability, as expressly stated in Articles (10) and (32) of the Basic Law. Not to mention the negative impact on Palestine's international standing given that this act violates Palestine's obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which is published in the Official Gazette and must be followed.
