MUSAWA’s General Assembly approves the annual report and elects a board member to succeed the late Dr. Abdul Karim Shbeir

The General Assembly of MUSAWA - The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession held its regular annual meeting on Sunday, June 13, 2021. 19 members out of 23 members who paid fees attended the meeting. The discussions during the meeting addressed the approval of the audited administrative and financial reports for the year 2020 and the election of a new board member in succession to the late Dr. Abdul Karim Shbeir, who passed away last January, whom the meeting was dedicated to his memory, as well as looking into applications to join  the Center’s General Assembly.

The meeting began by observing a minute of silence for the memory of Dr. Abdul Karim Shbeir and of the martyrs of our Palestinian people, followed by the external auditor reading the audited financial report for the year 2020, then discussing the comments and inquiries of the General Assembly regarding it, followed by the review and discussion of the administrative report. The General Assembly of the Center approved the two reports unanimously. Also, Lawyer Sherine Sha’rawy was elected as a member of the Center's Board of Directors, succeeding Dr. Abdel Karim Shbeir, who passed away in Gaza last January. The General Assembly assigned the task of studying and approving three applications for membership of the General Assembly to the Board of Directors in its next meeting, provided that the General Assembly approves future membership applications after approval by the Board of Directors, while unanimously emphasizing the necessity of joining new members of the General Assembly and encouraging young people and women to join.

The meeting was attended by a representative of the Ministry of Justice and a representative of the Ministry of Information after the two ministries and the Ministry of Interior were duly invited.
