MUSAWA Reminds the Palestinian Bar Association of Its Request to Provide It With a Copy of the National Plan for the Development and Reform of the Judiciary System and Its Own Plan Regarding the Subject

We remind you of our request, which was addressed to your esteemed council on 13/03/2023, that you provide us with the national plan for the development and reform of the justice sector, in addition to the Bar’s plan in this regard.

MUSAWA-The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession, extends its best greetings to you. Further to our aforementioned letter regarding our request to be provided with the national plan for the development and reform of the justice sector that is mentioned in your council’s statement on 11/03/2023, in addition to providing us with the Bar’s plan in this regard. However, it has been 8 days since we submitted this request, and we are yet to receive a response to it, despite the fact that your esteemed council held its usual weekly meeting, including the meeting of your council on Saturday 3/18/2023.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is important to differentiate between the national plan for the development of the justice system that requires official and civil agreement, which has not been mentioned, referenced, published, or even leaked by any official bodies or any natural or juridical person, and the Bar’s own plan for the development of the justice sector, that represents the Bar’s opinion only, which has also not been published, announced, or circulated to the Bar’s associates, nor has it been leaked either.

Moreover, there is no need to remind that the reform and development of the justice system, which is going through both a human and a legislative crisis, is a social right that requires wide participation in its formulation and implementation. Therefore, this supports our request to be provided with the national plan (If available) and the Bar’s plan (if available), so we can carefully examine and give our opinion on them, in exercise of our constitutional right and as part of our national and professional duty.

Thus, we hope that you will quickly respond to our recurrent request and provide us with the above-mentioned as soon as possible, especially since your esteemed council will convene today.
