Deepening the bonds of mutual cooperation with a view to develop legal education and training both theoretically and practically in Palestine, MUSAWA – The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Leal Profession conducted a series of meetings in the West Bank and Gaza. In the West Bank the meetings were held with Al-Quds University/ Abu-Dis represented by the Dean, Dr. Mohammad Khalaf, and the lecturer in human rights, Dr. Najah Duqmaq; and Palestine Ahliya Uiversity College represented by the legal clinic officer, Advocate Rasha Suboh. In the Gaza Strip, meetings were conducted with the University of Palestine represented by the Law Faculty Dean, Dr. Mohammad Abu-Saa’da; Al-Azhar University represented by the Law Faculty Dean, Dr. Saher Al-Waleed; and Gaza University represented by the Law Faculty Dean, Dr. Ahmad Hassanieh.
The overall objective of the meetings was to review the courses that tackle issues related to human rights and to recommend the necessary modifications so as to ensure that the curriculum is more in line with the current status of human rights in Palestine, and to make sure it is consistent with the relevant international treaties and conventions. In expression of future cooperation, MUSAWA will sign memoranda of understanding with the aforementioned universities.
