His Excellency the head of the Anti- Corruption Commission, Mr. Rafiq Al-Natsheh

Subject: The Need for a legislation to govern the Public Officials' Gifts, and the aspects of dealing with them, and undertaking the tasks of the public office

MUSAWA- The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession extends their warmest greetings to you, noting that with this memo, we attached a memo  sent on 5/11/2018 to Mr. Prime Minister, demanding the distinguished government to respond to your esteemed commission’s proposal for issuing a legislation to govern the ministers’ and public officials’ gifts, and the aspects of dealing with them.

We also attached a memo  sent to Mr. President and the members of the high judicial council on the lack in the number of judges who are responsible of considering and adjudicating the Resolution of Land Issues, which falls down the umbrella of failure to undertake the tasks of the public office, and might affect the citizens’ right to access to justice, and prolongs the conflict of the most prominent issue that Palestine is in need to resolve, which is concluding the Palestinian lands’ resolution activities.

We hope that you take the necessary legal action in these regards, especially that they might fall under the corruption’s umbrella, as the absence of provisions that govern public officials gifts in the legislation is not acceptable, in addition, the judicial authority must not neglect to undertake its basic mission, which is conflict resolution. Hoping that you keep us updated with the actions taken by your side, and looking forward to deepening the cooperation relationship with you to achieve a Palestinian state that is free of corruption.

With All Due Respect,

Issued on 5/11/2018
