Ramallah
MUSAWA – The Palestinian center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession conducted two workshops for the students of the law faculties at Al-Quds University and Birzeit University. The workshops were held at MUSAWA’s Ramallah office, with the purpose of introducing the students to the proceedings of criminal trials.
A total of 35 students, including 19 women, from both universities participated in the training which aimed at demonstrating the proceedings of Aya Baradiyyah’s murder. The indictee’s lawyer in the aforementioned case explained these proceedings from the moment of disclosure until the referral of the suit to the Court of Cessation, following the support of the Court of Appeal for the judgment of the Court of First Instance declaring the accused as innocent.
At the end of the workshops, the participants gave recommendations to increase the number of activities and practical trainings by organizing periodic meetings for university students, and conducting moot courts of different kinds. In compliance to the agreements between MUSAWA and the Palestinian universities, MUSAWA will work on responding to the aforementioned requests.
