Attended by 189 Lawyers, MUSAWA Concludes the Participatory Training Program on Land Settlement and the Litigation Procedures thereto
MUSAWA – The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession concluded the training program on land settlement with two workshops in Nablus and Jenin that addressed land settlement and its procedures. The two workshops are part of a series of training sessions that aimed at raising the legal awareness, developing the legal predisposition of lawyers, workers in settlement departments and other stakeholders, and developing their capacities and performance in this field. The series started with two workshops in Bethlehem on 12th and 25th of March, and a session in Ramallah on 19th of March.
54 trainees -48 females and 6 males- attended the fourth workshop in Nablus, and 40 trainees -28 of which were females- participated in the workshop in Jenin on 28th of May. The training addressed the historical phases that Palestine went through in terms of land registration and settlement, and the difference in the legal value between disposal and property deeds in real estate “lands”, in terms of issuance of records, registration certificates, and recording acts, besides explaining the nature of the application and procedures of renewed registration, identifying the concept of settlement and the actions related thereto starting from field survey, and ending with the issuance of a registration record, including objection to the schedules of rights and the durations associated to it , and the jurisdiction and procedures of the settlement courts.
It is worth mentioning that MUSAWA – The Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession has started implementing the training program, in which 189 trainees have participated since March.
This program comes within the framework of the monitoring and awareness-raising role of the Centre and its belief that improving the quality of legal services and enhancing the status and professional attitudes of lawyers is one of the most effective ways of implementing the principle of the rule of law.
